the times && definitely people that made fall quarter 2009 worth it.  can’t wait for more memories to come =]

(saw this on tv last night while running at the gym.)

every christmas i always hope for something amazing to happen. something life changing. a moment that i can look back on and say, “yah, that was a good christmas.” you know, a “movie christmas.”

then when christmas time rolls around, nothing too exciting happens, actually most times nothing happens, but thats when i’m at my happiest.  because thats when i remember that it’s not about that christmas movie moment, it’s about the family time and the understanding that its not about how many presents i get to open or who comes over for christmas dinner, it’s about the simple moments: hugging your sister after she gives you the gift you’ve been asking her for, smiling with your parents as you lean in for that family portrait, laughing at stories told over the dinner table.

my christmases may not be as extravagant as most people’s are, but i’m excited to say that this year, my family is going to be my gift. <3

the way i see it...

with almost 40000 students at UCLA alone it’s amazing how we meet the people we do.  seriously, how did i possibly meet all the people that i am currently close to?

it’s pretty much a 1 in 40000 chance in meeting a person who can possibly have a significant effect in your life.

so the way i see it, i’m thankful for the people i’ve met so far, new and old, who i can say already have a special place in my life. and the fact that meeting them was a 1 in 40000 chance, makes me realize that i’m a pretty damn lucky guy.  =]

i really like this song.

i’m the type of person who appreciates simplicity at its best.  sometimes we all need to take the time to realize that the things we want out of life don’t have to be on a grand scale like changing the world or having the perfect future.  sometimes all we really need to do is brush the world off from telling us what we want and discover the things that truly make us happy.  i think john mayer captures that perfectly in this song.

it doesn’t always have to be about heartbreak or fighting injustice, sometimes it can just be about that yearning we all have for the freedom to define our lives the way we like; whether it be by traveling, romance, or self discovery. John Mayer himself put it best when he said:

Maybe sometimes all we really need in life is to turn off the lights and telephone, and “get stoned.”  and you can define that however you like.
