1. My New Year’s Challenge
2011/People: Bunkmate
For the first half of summer it was pretty much Brian and I at the apartment and although he was studying and stressing most of the time, we had a lot of roomie time…before we both moved out.  For most of the year our schedules kept us extremely busy and I kind of regretted not spending as much time as I wanted to with my roommates.  I’m glad that Brian and I got to bond this past summer though and although we’re no longer roomies, he’s always going to be “bunkmate” and a person I consider a really great friend.

  2. My New Year’s Challenge
2011/Places: The Bay
After all those times telling my friends that I’d visit them in the Bay during break I finally did.  It was a great trip and I’m glad it finally happened.
I love getting to know the places my friends call home and it was great spending time with them away from our UCLA bubble.

Unfortunately I couldn’t really finish my New Year’s Challenge before the New & I’m blaming it on the stomach flu.

These are a few more of the photos that I wanted to share.

As I said 2011 was an amazing year filled with the best memories and pictured here are a lot of the people who have helped to define it.  I wasn’t doing these blogs in any particular order and it sucks that I can’t really share my own individual reflections for the rest of these photos, but with or without all of the words, I consider myself an extremely lucky guy to call these people my friends, and I just want them to know that.

I really wanted to share a lot more but unfortunately now that it’s 2012 and winter quarter is about to start I’m finding myself with a lot of work that I need to get started on ASAP.

My family: I love them, plain and simple.

  5. My New Year’s Challenge
2011/Things: Asian Am 187C
Preserving Community Through Cultural Performance: Pilipino Cultural Night Experience.
This was the most worthwhile course I took this past quarter.  It was on a subject that although I have been a part of for a few years already, I still learned a lot about.  Plus it was also one of the funniest classes i’ve taken…so many inside jokes!
The people in this class were amazing as well.

  6. My New Year’s Challenge
2011/People: Alli
I’m so glad Alli was added to my mentorship line because she’s another person on my list of people that I’m glad to have gotten to know better this year.  She’s my grand-mentee but she’s also become one of my really great friends.  We’ve hung out a lot this year and to be honest sometimes I forget that she’s second year.  She’s also an unofficial roommate of The Doghouse.
Alli’s another person who I’ve seen grow a lot since I first met her and I’m honestly so proud of her and everything she has done so far.
This picture was taken the time I forced her to audition for Moro Princess (remember that Grand?)

  7. My New Year’s Challenge

    2011/People: Fierce Line

In the span of just one quarter, I’ve been able to develop really good friendships with these people.  In the midst of all the busy things going on in life it’s good to just take a break and spend time with friends.  I love the fact that no matter where we are: Feast, Disneyland, or even the Bay, we’ll always have a fierce time (and we’ll keep growing while we’re at it).

They’ve been a good reminder that sometimes the best friendships don’t really need to make sense to work. I’m definitely looking forward to spending more time with all of them.

Shout out to mentee Peter for always swiping us in to feast!

  8. My New Year’s Challenge

    2011/People: Kyle

It’s funny what a few games of beer pong can do for a friendship.

I’ve known Kyle for a little over a year now but it honestly feels like it’s been way longer.  I really don’t know where it started but we’ve spent a lot of time together this past year (especially this summer) and he really has helped to define 2011.  In the year that I’ve known him he’s become one of the people that I can really turn to & basically talk to about anything.  Not to mention the fact that I drive him everywhere and let him crash on my couch.

He’s definitely become the little brother I’ve never had and one of my lifelong best friends.

  9. My New Year’s Challenge
2011/People: Double Rainbow Accountability Group
I’m very thankful to everyone in this picture as an accountability group we made sure that each person was staying accountable to the goals that we set out for ourselves. It was great going through the journey that was SPCN with them and along the way I’m glad that our accountability group transcended beyond just this last school year.
It’s also great to know that they’re not only my accountability buddies, but they’ve also become some of my closest friends.
